Mary Ashley Lozano
My name is Mary Ashley Lozano. I have lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for over 25 years. I have worked with individuals with special needs in North and South Carolina since 2000. Over the years, I have experiences working with individuals from preschool through adulthood. During this time I have created various materials and lead district wide trainings.
I am married and have two children. I am an avid gardener and enjoy growing African violets, phalaenopsis orchids, seasonal fruits and vegetables. In the summer, you can find us near the water or hiking in the mountains with our two dogs.
Professional Profile
A special education teacher with experience working with a wide range of learners. During this time, I have taught self-contained, inclusion, resource, Occupational Studies, and extended school year classes. Participated in a Federal Grant Program using Reading Recovery theories to prepare special education teachers to observe and instruct students with specific reading disabilities. Completed the Transition Coalition professional development on secondary special education and the transition of youth with disabilities from school to adult life.
I obtained a Master’s in Learning Design and Technology from Winthrop University. I have strengths in my understanding of technology and my education background. Together, I have a greater understanding of how others learn and to create materials to meet the needs of a wide range of learners.
